In my front yard this summer I grew a wide variety of sunflowers. It was just a packet of seeds in June, but by mid July some of them had reached 7-8 feet tall. Most of the other plants in my yard perished due to hot, dry weather, so I was extremely happy my sunflowers did well. Now they are bird food and I bet the neighbors wish I would cut back the dead carcasses. But I am stubborn and won't make a move until I know the birds are done with them.
