holy crap...

..has it been that long since I logged in? I got marred at the beginning of October and a-blink-of-an-eye later I'm sitting here typing. I need a long expanse of quiet time to sit here and do this, and I am easily entranced by the smooth-talking t.v. I am also completely overwhelmed with finding a groove. and i also have a smoking problem--not cigarettes--which takes time.

I re-read were I went on and on over the Irvine Welsh book. I just really liked it and had to discuss my feelings.

I read four books that I haven't talked about. I liked the stuff by Bryson, so I read two. He can really take you where he's going; As I read I traced his route on a map and googled his points of interest to get the full experience (the nerd always comes out). And he's a fun traveling companion as he can discuss at length human behavior quirks, little known facts and his adventures at tourist attractions. enjoyed his humor and will read more.

Then I read clown girl. liked it a whole bunch. Fast, witty writing and a love story. Anything I say will not do it justice, so just read it. Oh, and it was endorsed by Chuck Palahniuk, but it's not exactly like the stuff he writes.

Most of October was Dracula, as suggested by The Diane Rehm Show and sometimes I like to follow along with her monthly book reviews and podcast the discussion. I like listening to how people who read for a living talk. I also really just like Diane Rehm, but I am off topic. The book was fantastic. suspenseful. definitely descriptive. There were several slow passages were Van Helsing is going on and on (commonly would dose off during these bits) and the ending was tied-up very tidy but still the story was superb.

Currently reading Catch-22 over at and enjoying it. not sure if I will ever be able to summarize all the themes and realizations that this books touches on. but it's fun to read along with other people.

and that's about it for now.
